Letter From the Editors:

As MA candidates in art history, we believe it is important to be familiar with the topics that compel our fellow students in the Art Department at Hunter College. With respect to this conviction, we announce the launch of a new online journal dedicated to providing an outlet for peer interaction and review: The Hunter Maquette.

Making available a collection of essays by students to students, each issue of The Maquette will function constructively by demonstrating the depth of scholarly research and the cogency of organization necessary to execute graduate level compositions of the highest caliber.

In addition, it is our hope that The Maquette will stimulate meaningful thought and discussion regarding the essays published within, whether they address Sumerian architecture or the role of digital media in contemporary art.  Through the journal’s basic comparative format, we anticipate that seemingly disparate fields will give way to commonalities of purpose, if not the occasional revelation. For these reasons, we ask that you join our endeavor to establish The Maquette as a valuable resource within the Art Department at Hunter College.
